Sharon C. Siegel, DDS, MS, MBA, FAGD, completed her DDS (1979), her certificate in prosthodontics (1992) and her MS in oral biology (1995) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. She completed a general practice residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (1980) and served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps as a general dentist in Baumholder, Germany (1980–1982). She taught in the department of prosthodontics at the University of Maryland (1985–2002), serving as director of fixed prosthodontics and earning the rank of associate professor with tenure. She moved to the Nova Southeastern University in 2003, where she was the chair of the department of prosthodontics, and is currently an adjunct and a full professor in the department of prosthodontics. She earned an MBA from the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship in 2015. She is a 1,000-hour trained breathwork expert and meditation teacher.
Siegel is a member of the American College of Prosthodontists, the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Since 2006, she has served the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) as the section editor of the Journal of Prosthodontics and is also the associate editor-in-chief. She served as chair of the ACP Classification Implementation for the Prosthodontic Diagnostic Index Task Force (2004–2010) and as a member of the Research Committee (2007–2012). She is an AGD Fellow and a member of the American Dental Association.
Siegel has authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles and six book chapters. She is a 2006 fellow of the ADEA Leadership Institute. She has lectured internationally on osteoporosis and women’s health issues and CAD/CAM and has conducted research and published extensively in the field of dental cutting. She has published in the area of CAD/CAM and lean protocols. She is currently conducting research in the area of CAD/CAM dentistry. She is the 2015 winner of the Lucy Hobbs Taylor Award from the American Association of Women Dentists. She holds a patent on a dental device.
