Mark W. Lingen, DDS, PhD, is a professor of pathology and medicine at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He is a graduate of the Northwestern University Dental School. He also completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial pathology as well as a PhD in cellular and molecular pathology at the Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine. Lingen is the editor in chief of the journal Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, and Oral Radiology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, American and International Colleges of Dentists and Royal College of Pathologists. Lingen is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. His National Institutes of Health-funded research, which focuses on several aspects of oral cancer, has resulted in more than 200 manuscripts and book chapters.
