Dental professionals have ethical responsibilities to both the patient and the profession. An ethical dimension in the care environment is present each and every time an oral health provider interacts with a patient. There is never a situation when the ethical dimension does not exist. Being willing and able to recognize ethical issues is the first step in the process of managing them. A video case scenario will be used to present and stimulate discussion about common and sometimes subtle ethical issues in the care of dental patients. In addition, the ethical nature of a duty to care will be discussed as a framework for ethical decision-making.
