While dental technologies are ever-evolving, they often transform in ways that add complexity and cost without proportionate profitability or practice appeal. All too often, our technological uptake is fragmented and rationalized by simple procedural substitution (i.e., conventional versus digital impressions, etc.). However, when we can extend the value of our new approaches across all aspects of the patient-care experience, we see that the benefits transcend simple savings on lab expense line items and apply more broadly — from beautiful smiles to our bottom lines. When we can utilize the same technology to commence the diagnostics, conceptualize the goal, captivate the patient, control the process, capture the records, connect the technicians, create the solutions and complete the case, we have received more return on our investment than we can calculate. This presentation will review the various approaches to full-mouth fixed reconstruction and smile design and how technology has advanced along the way.
